The Art of Magick
Ten Card Reading
Sacred Space

Virtually all spiritual traditions begin their rituals in a place or setting where the mundane meets the divine. Whether a holy cathedral or a wooded grove, humans have always sought to create places where their spirits could be transformed. From the simplest stone slab to the most elaborate sculptured altar; from a mountain sanctuary to your own personal dresser, the spirit of place begins in the mind of the practitioner, who brings it into being through passion and Will. The Witch is able to transform the most ordinary of spaces into a temple through the use of the magick circle, a powerful vessel of energy within which thought and deed are catalyzed and focused.

A Simple Way to Create Sacred Space
The most basic Magick Circle can be done without tools. Find a place that is private and clean where you will not be interrupted. Dim the lights and, if you have one, light a candle. Go into Alpha. Using the index finger of the hand you write with, draw an invisible boundary, clockwise, in the form of a circle, large enough for you to do your work in. Visualize this circle as an intense sphere of dazzling light. You will draw this circle once, saying, either aloud or to yourself, “I cast this circle as a focus of my magickal Will that it may catalyze my every intention and manifest my desire. So mote it be.” You may now begin your work. When your ritual or working is complete, using the same finger, draw the circle counterclockwise, one time, saying “I release this circle into the universe to manifest my desire. So mote it be!”
